New Year… Same Me?
By the middle of January the excitement and promise that the New Year holds tends to have faded a little and many are left feeling disappointed that their endless list of resolutions seem to have already been broken… The initial optimism doesn’t last as we’re faced with a world of expectation we can’t possibly fulfil! So can we ever stick to our New Years resolutions?
The key is to focus on more mental and less physical changes. Time and time again we pledge to “hit the gym five times a week”, “give up all junk food” and a series of other idealistic promises. But if we turned our attention to more habitual behaviours, such as promising to listen more, to dedicate time to ourselves or to be more grateful, it’s proven we’re more likely to succeed as they ultimately give us a healthier mindset.
